I took a calligraphy class at Sonoma State in 1978 with French professor Adele, Friedman. At first I had trouble learning how to shape the letters, but then I took to it like a duck to water. I became the house calligrapher at Sonoma State University and made huge signs on butcher paper using felt grocer brushes. Everybody wanted to keep their signs, even Joan Baez and Daniel Barrigan. I taught calligraphy classes to kids as well. My poor notebook was completely falling apart, so I decided to preserve it electronically.
